Today at Nursery we worked together in teams to make some bird food for the birds that live outside our Nursery. As there is sometimes snow on the ground, during the Winter, the birds can't get any worms or bugs to eat from the ground as it is covered. The bugs and worms are also deeper in the ground during the Winter so it is very hard for the birds to get any food. We decided we would help by making bird feeders. We mixed together lard and bird food. Then we rolled pinecones, that we collected in the Autumn, into our mixture. It didn't smell very nice. We tied string onto the pinecones and hung them outside on our fence. We can't wait to see what birds visit our Nursery to eat their food.
