It’s raining in P4!
16th Oct 2023
We carried out an experiment to help us understand what happens in the atmosphere to make it rain. We learnt that clouds are formed as part of the water cycle. Water in seas, rivers and lakes evaporates, making water vapour, which rises into the air. When the vapour hits colder air higher up in the atmosphere, it turns back into droplets of water which ‘stick together’ to form clouds. Eventually, the clouds get so full of water that they can’t hold any more and the water falls back to the ground as rain.
The water, shaving foam and droplets of food colouring in the jar helped us to see all of this happening!
